Has the flu bug been to your classroom yet? It has hit our family VERY hard already. We've had 2 fevers, croup, and strep throat! This usually means one of two things. One, we have it out of the way, and we are good for the year. Or, the scenario I don't want to happen..... it's going to be a LLLOOOONNNGGGG school year.
Tim is back in the classroom this year. He is teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies (at the school I used to teach at- he has some of my old students). So, we've really had to plan and prepare for guest teachers.

The first thing we did was make sure Tim has emergency plans on file at the front office. By contract we are required to leave 3 days of emergency work. But, I couldn't help but make this cute flu bug cover for his plans! Get your own copy here, for free!
These are only intended to be used if we get sick over night, or there is an emergency that Tim can't get to the school to leave plans for!
For all of the times he "plans" to take off - or we know about in advance (we switch every other day off, so one of us isn't out two days in a row- this is how we "plan" sick days if we know one of the kids isn't getting better) we have created this Guest Teacher Binder to house all of the really important things in!

What's in the binder you ask? Anything, and I mean anything, that I think the guest teacher will need. I love to leave a note explaining the day in order. Check out Tim's note here.
I also keep any medical information on students- like allergies, seizures, etc. I keep class lists. I also like to leave a seating chart, with pictures if possible.

I hope you and your family are staying healthy. I'm off to drink some hot tea, and blow my nose!
